New poppy sculpture added to county's County Hall Cenotaph

Strathcona County unveiled a new poppy sculpture at Cenotaph Park in front of County Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 14 to honour fallen service members.

The sculpture, created by Revelstoke, B.C. artist and blacksmith Kyle Thornley, was inspired by his grandfather, a Second World War veteran. Titled Poppy, it serves as a visible entrance feature to the Cenotaph dedicated to fallen service members from the Boer War, World War I and II, the Korean War, the Gulf War, and the war in Afghanistan.
